When Should You Reach Out to Us for Emergency Dental Care?

Dental emergencies come in many forms, from persistent toothaches to chipped teeth while enjoying the day at Casper Country Club. No matter the situation, contacting us for guidance is always a good idea. Here’s a list of common dental emergencies and what you can do if they happen:

  • Severe Toothache: A sudden, intense toothache could indicate an infection or deep decay. Call us, and we’ll assess the severity and help you plan your next steps.
  • Cracked or Chipped Tooth: Whether you bit into something hard or had an accident, cracks or chips can expose the sensitive inner parts of your tooth. Contact us for advice on what to do until we can see you.
  • Lost Filling or Crown: If a filling or crown falls out, it can leave your tooth vulnerable to damage or infection. Contact us, and we’ll work on a solution to restore your tooth.
  • Knocked-Out Tooth: Time is of the essence if you’ve knocked out a tooth. Call us immediately, and we'll guide you through the best way to preserve your tooth until we can help.
  • Broken Dentures: While not an emergency in the traditional sense, broken dentures can make it difficult to go about your day. Let us know if this happens, and we’ll work on getting you back to normal as soon as possible.

What to Do if You Have a Dental Emergency

If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, follow these steps:

  1. Stay Calm: Dental emergencies can be stressful, but staying calm will help you think clearly and take appropriate action.
  2. Call Our Office or Leave a Voicemail: Even though we don’t offer immediate emergency care, we monitor our voicemail regularly. Share the details of your emergency, and we’ll respond as quickly as possible to guide you through the following steps.
  3. Follow Our Recommendations: Depending on your situation, we may recommend over-the-counter pain relief and temporary solutions or advise you to visit the nearest emergency room if the issue is severe or life-threatening.
  4. Plan for a Future Visit: Once we’ve assessed the situation, we’ll work on getting you into our office for a follow-up or a more permanent solution as soon as possible.

For life-threatening injuries or situations involving heavy bleeding or facial trauma, please head directly to your nearest emergency room. Espire Dental Casper is here to help with dental-related concerns, but your safety always comes first.

We’ll do our best to fit you into our schedule if you need immediate attention during business hours. And if it’s after hours, leave us a voicemail—we’ll respond as soon as we can to help you get the relief you need.

ESPIRE CARE PLAN
For patients without Dental Insurance, Espire Dental offers our Espire Care Plan, our dental savings plan that will help you eliminate insurance worries and maximize your savings.

If possible, pick up the tooth by the crown (the chewing surface) and rinse it with water—do not scrub it. Try to place it back in the socket if you can, or store it in milk until you can get to a dentist. Call our office immediately for further guidance.

You can take over-the-counter pain medication like ibuprofen and rinse your mouth with warm salt water for temporary relief. Avoid chewing on the side of the affected tooth, and contact us to discuss the next steps.

Keep the crown or filling if you can, and contact us for advice. In the meantime, dental cement from a local pharmacy can help protect your tooth until you can get in for an appointment.

If you're experiencing severe pain, excessive bleeding, or trauma to the face or jaw, it's important to seek immediate medical attention at the nearest emergency room. For non-life-threatening dental issues, call us, and we'll help you decide the best course of action.

While we do not offer on-site emergency services, we do our best to accommodate urgent cases as quickly as possible. Call us, and we’ll work to fit you in for the earliest available appointment.

Regular check-ups, good oral hygiene, and wearing a mouthguard during sports are some of the best ways to avoid dental emergencies. However, accidents happen—if they do, we’re just a phone call away.
